Hours
All Grades 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Please note: Although our Junior and Senior Kindergarten are full day programs, the day’s activities are suited to the energy level of the students.

Recess
There are two separate yards for recess — one for Kindergarten and the other for Grades 1 to 6. All students have two supervised recesses daily.

Lunch
All the children eat in the school gym under adult supervision.  Children bring their own lunch and are encouraged to bring healthy food.  We are a nut free school.  Candy, pop and gum are also not permitted.  For an additional fee, a hot lunch program is offered.
All Kindergarten children have a nutritious mid-morning snack provided by the school.  Children from Grades 1 to 6 may bring their own recess snack from home.

After School Care
We offer an Extended Care Program from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on full school days, based on available space and demand. Activities include cooking, crafts, games and sports.

Clubs
All students participate in an Academic, Hobby and Sports Club, offered each week as part of the school curriculum and at no additional charge.  We provide a wide range of academic, physical, creative and fun options that enrich the daily program.  Students choose the clubs in which they would like to participate and provide input on what clubs they would like to see made available. Some options include newspaper and math club, choir, student council, cooking, building and structures, knitting and computer club.  Sports activities include a wide selection of sports and team building games.

Holidays
We follow a holiday calendar similar to other independent schools. A list of holiday dates is provided at the beginning of each school year.

Religion
Our school is non-denominational and non-sectarian. Respect for all beliefs and ethnicities is encouraged and fostered.

Transportation
No transportation is provided to or from school but can be arranged privately.  Parents are encouraged to carpool.

Attire
There is no official uniform. Washable clothes that allow for active learning are recommended.

Where do children go after Mabin?
Parents and students are guided by our teachers and Transition Coordinator in making the appropriate choice.  The majority of Mabin students go on to other independent schools.

Application for Admission
Families seeking to enrol their child are required to complete an Application for Admission form (available on our Admissions page or from the school office) and return it by fax or mail. A non-refundable application fee must accompany the Application for Admission form. We offer an Open House in the late autumn and weekday tours throughout the school year. The school’s philosophy and other information are presented at these meetings. Interviews with interested parents and children begin in the new year. Alternate times may be arranged for families with unique circumstances.
