Hours
8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Please note: Although our Junior and Senior Kindergarten
are full day programs, the day’s activities are suited to the
energy level of the students.
There are two separate yards for recess — one
for Kindergarten and the other for Grades 1 to 6. All students have
two supervised recesses daily.
All
the children eat in the school gym under adult supervision. Children
bring their own lunch and are encouraged to bring healthy food. We
are a nut free school. Candy, pop and gum are also not permitted.
For an additional fee, a hot lunch program is offered.
All Kindergarten children have a nutritious mid-morning
snack provided by the school. Children from Grades 1 to 6 may bring
their own recess snack from home. Please check our list
of recommended snacks to prevent allergy complications.
We offer an Extended Care Program from 3:30 p.m. to
6:00 p.m. on full school days, based on available space and demand.
Activities include cooking, crafts, games and sports.
Our
school is non-denominational and non-sectarian. Respect for all beliefs
and ethnicities is encouraged and fostered.
We follow a holiday calendar which is similar to other
independent schools. A list of actual holiday dates is provided at
the beginning of each school year.
No transportation is provided to or from school but
can be arranged privately. Parents are encouraged to carpool.
There
is no official uniform. Washable clothes which allow for active learning
are recommended.
Parents and students are guided by our teachers and
Transition Coordinator in making the appropriate choice. The majority
of Mabin students go on to other independent schools.
