Please note: Although our Junior and Senior Kindergarten are full day programs, the day’s activities are suited to the energy level of the students.

Recess

There are two separate yards for recess — one for Kindergarten and the other for Grades 1 to 6. All students have two supervised recesses daily.

Lunch

Students laughing in the playgroundAll the children eat in the school gym under adult supervision. Children bring their own lunch and are encouraged to bring healthy food. We are a nut free school. Candy, pop and gum are also not permitted. For an additional fee, a hot lunch program is offered.

After School Care

We offer an Extended Care Program from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on full school days, based on available space and demand. Activities include cooking, crafts, games and sports.

Religion

Student peers - an important part of the Mabin communityOur school is non-denominational and non-sectarian. Respect for all beliefs and ethnicities is encouraged and fostered.

Holidays

We follow a holiday calendar which is similar to other independent schools. A list of actual holiday dates is provided at the beginning of each school year.

Transportation

No transportation is provided to or from school but can be arranged privately. Parents are encouraged to carpool.

Attire

There is no official uniform. Washable clothes which allow for active learning are recommended.

Where do children go after Mabin?

Parents and students are guided by our teachers and Transition Coordinator in making the appropriate choice. The majority of Mabin students go on to other independent schools.

Application for Admission

Families seeking to enrol their child are required to complete an Application for Admission form (available on our Admissions page or from the school office) and return it by fax or mail. A non-refundable application fee must accompany the Application for Admission form. We offer an Open House in the late autumn and weekday tours throughout the school year. The school’s philosophy and other information are presented at these meetings. Interviews with interested parents and children begin in the new year.
