Spun With Love

STUDENTS ENGAGED IN FACE PAINTING AS A TRIBUTE TO ART TEACHER PAOLATo honour of our retired Art teacher, Paola Cohen, the whole school came together to participate in a very special morning.

Happily decorating themselves with body paint and streamers, the Mabin family then paraded to the nearby Hydro Park where, much to Paola’s delight, a giant art installation was spun!

Using miles of colourful yarn, the students “spider webbed” the whole area, climbers and all, to make sure Paola could never quite escape our hearts.  And with the giant web as a backdrop, the classes then presented her with a stunning painting which every student in the school helped to create by adding their own individual flair.

The process was a magnificent sight and was a perfect example of Paola’s philosophy in action — the result a truly a magical experience none of us will ever forget..

How 'Bout Them Apples?

MABIN STUDENTS PLAYING AND LEARNING WHILE APPLE PICKINGIt was wet enough to make applesauce, but the rain held off (mostly) and our students and teachers persevered, having a fine time at Albion Orchards picking apples and learning more about the apple growing process. Kudos to our Grade 5 and 6 students who were impressive buddies and mentors to the younger students embarking on their first whole school Mabin field trip.
